Surfing and bodyboarding in Rosarito
The beaches in the Rosarito area are probably better for body surfing and Boogie Boarding than for surfing, mainly because of the lack of any consistent shape. The waves do get large, but they are often walled up. South of Rosarito, where the bluffs start, the shape improves considerably.

Snorkeling and diving in Rosarito
Just north of Rosarito Beach many dive clubs offer day trips to the Coronado Islands. These islands are an easy one day jaunt on a dive boat out of San Diego, and the visibility and sea life is very good.
Ocean water temperatures usually bottom out at around 55 degrees in February, and then gradually warm up to about 70 degrees by late August.
Whale watching in Rosarito
Whales are one of the special treasures of
Baja. There are few places on the planet
where these large mammals can be viewed
so easily, and so close up.
It only takes one whale sighting to create a memory that can last a lifetime. Come and enter the world of the whales!
Baja is well known as a great place to whale watch. The Peninsula is home to several different types of whales, including the California Gray whale and the Finback whale. While the California Grays are just visiting for short periods of time along the west coast, the Finbacks are full-time residents in the Sea of Cortez. Both breeds are a spectacle to behold and a true natural treasure.

Cycling in Rosarito
Rosarito Ensenada is one of the largest cycling events in the world and is held semi-annually, in April and September each year. Half a million people have completed this event. Last April’s youngest was 9 years old, and the oldest was 85 years young
Kayaking in Rosarito
Kayaks are available in some of Rosarito’s hotels, and the two small islands in front of the hotel area make a fun kayak excursion, once you get out past the waves. For even better and more remote kayaking, head south towards La Salina and Bajamar.
